Joan R. Gray, 85, of Churubusco, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024, at her home.
She was born in Auburn, on May 31, 1938, to the late Claude Victor and Velda Mae (Fulk) Sherwood. She spent her formative years in rural Churubusco and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1956.
Joan married her beloved husband, Stanley Gray, on August 17, 1957. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan spent her life creating a warm and loving home for her family.
In addition to her role as a homemaker, Joan was an accomplished upholsterer, displaying her love for craftsmanship and detail. Her hobbies were an extension of her love for the home, encompassing sewing, cross-stitch, knitting, furniture upholstery and wood finishing, chair canning, and playing the piano and organ. She found joy and solace in these activities, which contributed greatly to the warmth and comfort of her home.
Joan is survived by her husband of 66 years, Stanley Gray; her three children, Kirk Gray, Lisa Allen, and Claudia (Mitch) Luke; her sister, Karen Dicke; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Gray.
There will be a celebration held at a later date for Joan.
