Joann Murphy

Joann Murphy, 72, of Churubusco, passed away on May 15, 2026, at her home.

She was born on October 7, 1953, in Fort Wayne, to the late William and Sarah (Wiley) Murphy. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Northside High School in 1972.

Throughout her life, Joann exhibited a profound passion for reading and a love for animals. Her creative spirit was evident in her early career as a floral designer, where she brought beauty and joy to countless occasions. Later, she served many dedicated years in the retail industry at Sears. She enjoyed traveling with her family.

She is survived by her seven siblings, Cathy (Dave) Burleson, Denise (Lynn) Gordon, Martha Sutton, Mitchell (Miranti) Murphy, Stacey (Deanna) Murphy, Frances (Charles Clark) Boxell, and Christopher (Candice) Murphy; a sister-in-law, Anna Murphy; 12 nieces and seven nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Patrick and Dennis Murphy.

Her funeral service will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on May 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Eel River Cemetery.
