Joanne Nahrwold

Joanne M. Nahrwold, 88, formerly of Fort Wayne, was ushered from grace to glory on September 10, 2016, at the First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Joanne was the daughter of the late John Harold and Grace (Daley) Doty. After high school, she attended the nurses training program at St. Joseph Hospital - which proved extremely beneficial in raising six children. On March 24, 1948, she married Fort Wayne resident Eugene M. Nahrwold, and together celebrated 59 years of marriage until his death in September of 2007. Her interests included reading historical books and following politics to interior decorating and real estate. However, her highest priority was her family - as she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her children, retired Col. Scott E. (Peggy) Nahrwold of Columbia, SC, Brett E. (Janet) Nahrwold of Fort Wayne, Lark N. (Stan Weliever) Kenney of Palm Desert, CA, Starr E. (Keith) Brautigam of Greentown, IN, Gina (John) Cox of Southern Pines, NC, and Trina J. Neeley of Fort Wayne; as well as 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and William Gordon Doty; and a sister Margorie Doty. There will be a celebration of life services held at a later date. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
