John R. Geese, 72, a resident of Churubusco, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 11:21 a. m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He had been taken there earlier in the day after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home. Mr. Geese was born in Hilliard, Ohio on August 30, 1942, a son of James Milton and Maryetta (Hyland) Geese. He grew up on a farm near Tri-Lakes in Whitley County, and was a lifelong resident of this area. A cabinet maker by trade, he had worked at J. Miller Cabinet at Tri Lakes and retired 2004 from Jensen Cabinet in Fort Wayne. The surviving relatives include his children Charlene (Mike) Sheets of Columbia City, Stanley (Kimberly) Geese of Milford, David (Ann) Geese of Ossian, Jennifer (Andrew. Jr.) Fedock of Fort Wayne, and Christopher (Denise) Geese of South Bend; his mother Maryetta Patton of Coldwater, Mich; a twin brother James Geese, Jr. of Fort Wayne; two sisters Cora (Charles) Foupht of Coldwater, Mich., and Mary Lou Hamilton of Columbus, Oh; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister Arlene Anderson; and by a grandson Ian Geese. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Brad Fredrickson, pastor of Tri-Lakes Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p. m. on Tuesday, or one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
