John Gillespie

John V. Gillespie, 90, of Albion, passed away at 5:05 am on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Gillespie was born on June 5, 1922 in Kendallville, a son of Vern H. and Dorothy (Lash) Gillespie. On May 6, 1942 he was married in Knox, Indiana to Leila V. Campbell. He was employed at Reith and Riley Construction, and retired in 1980 after 22 years of service. Mr. Gillespie was a member of Churubusco American Legion Post 157 and Churubusco VFW Post 3846. Mrs. Gillespie preceded him in death on May 3, 2006. The surviving relatives include a son, Vern (Peggy) Gillespie of Albion; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Jim Clevenger in 1994; a daughter Joyce Meredith in 2005; two grandsons John V. Gillespie II and Scott Blosser; a brother Donald Henry Gillespie; a sister Geraldine Mary McMillan; a step-brother Lloyd Snook At Mr. Gillespie's request there will be no services For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Churubusco American Legion Post 157 or Churubusco VFW Post 3846.
