Julia Rose Hartman

Julia Rose Hartman, 61, passed away peacefully at her home on September 23, 2026. Born on July 28, 1965, in Defiance, Ohio, to the late Alex and Mary (Simonis) Zeninetz. Julia later made her home in Laotto, Indiana, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and cherished friendships.

Julia possessed a vibrant spirit and an unmistakable zest for life. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed swimming, water skiing, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time on her boat. She was also a devoted dog lover who opened her heart and home to many beloved canine companions throughout the years.

Adventure defined much of Julia's life. In her younger years, she modeled for Hawaiian Tropic and later took to the open road as an 18-wheeler driver, traveling through the beautiful mountains of the western United States. She embraced new experiences and lived with independence and enthusiasm.

Julia also made her mark in the automotive industry, becoming the first female salesperson at Kelly Chevrolet. Her dedication, determination, and passion for auto sales helped pave the way for others who followed.

Away from work, Julia found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved participating in farmers' markets, canning fresh produce, and helping others whenever she could. Her caring nature and willingness to lend a hand reflected the generous heart she carried throughout her life.

Julia shared 21 wonderful years with her life partner, Kevin Schenher. Together, they traveled extensively, created countless memories, and enjoyed time with family and friends. Their relationship was built on love, companionship, and a shared appreciation for life's adventures.

Julia is survived by her sisters, Teri (Mark) Muhlfield and Lynda (Kurt) Rude-Grzych, and her beloved life partner, Kevin Schenher; seven nieces and nephews, Ashley (Mark) Nye, Anthony (Taylor) Allen, Alexis (Danny) Turk, Jennifer Martin, Joshua Rude, Jessica Killion, and Jeneatte Rude; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 1, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Ege.

Following the Mass, Julia will be laid to rest at the Ege Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to Heartland Hospice or to Immaculate Conception Church for Masses in Julia's memory.
