June 3, 1924 — March 15, 2011

June Pauline (Leiter) Hadley, 86, a resident of rural LaOtto and widow of Vaughan A. Hadley, passed away at 2:55 p. m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.e She had been a patient there since Wednesday after suffering an apparent stroke. Mrs. Hadley was born on June 3, 1924 in Noble County, a daughter of Clarence Samuel and Pearl Edith (Wood) Leiter.e She spent her formative years in Swan Township, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1943. As a young woman she had worked at Essex Wire in Fort Wayne for 13 years, and was married at Simpson United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne to Vaughan A. Hadley on May 21, 1954.e She and her husband lived in Fort Wayne for a period before moving to the family farm in Swan Township where she spent most of her adult life. She was a longtime member of Simpson United Methodist Church, a member of Churubusco Order of the Eastern Star 136, and a member of Sigma Phi Gama Sorority.e As an outstanding homemaker who deeply loved her family, she was an exceptional cook, hostess, seamstress, and an avid bird watcher.e She had a green thumb in the garden and possessed expert skills in growing orchids and plants. Mr. Hadley preceded her in death on April 22, 2004. The surviving relatives include her daughter Sandra S. Hadley of rural LaOtto; two sisters Mary (Louie) Peduto ofe Shelbyville and Dorothy Martin of Kendallville; a brother Ray (Patsy) Leiter of LaOtto; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers Glen Leiter, Glade Leiter, Robert Leiter, and Cleo Leiter; and by three sisters Carrie Russell, Helen Thorn, and Gladys McNabb. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Edward E.e Kester, pastor of Simpson United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1 p. m. on Saturday until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Hooper-King Cemetery, west of Avilla. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to the Shriner's Hospital For Children or Simpson United Methodist Church. ******************************************
