Kara Deckard, 32, of Fort Wayne, passed away on May 6, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Fort Wayne on April 14, 1993, to Matthew and Laura (Bracht) Deckard. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Northrop High School and Purdue University Fort Wayne.
She had worked as a cheesemonger at Murray's Cheese Shop, located in the Dupont Kroger, which enabled her to work alongside her sister.
Kara was a beloved daughter, sister, and granddaughter known for her warm spirit and love of nature. Kara was renowned for her deliciously crafted cheesecakes and beautifully decorated cupcakes. Her passion for baking extended into her hobbies, as she also enjoyed watching cooking shows. Besides baking, she loved cats, nature, and bird watching. Kara's dedication and love for her family were paramount in her life. Kara will be remembered for her unwavering love for her parents and her exceptional bond with her sister, Rachel.
She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Laura Deckard; her sister, Rachel (Kevin) Miller; and her paternal grandparents, Douglas and Sherilyn Deckard; many aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Morris and Leona Bracht.
A calling will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at St. Joe United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46835. The memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m.
