Karen Sue (Hetrick) Simmons, 53, a resident of Churubusco, passed away unexpectedly at her home and was found on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Karen was born in Fort Wayne on March 17, 1961, a daughter of Bill and Alice (Shaddle) Hetrick. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from North Side High School in 1979. As a young woman she was employed at The Lincoln Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne, and later worked as a receptionist for Churubusco Family Dentistry for several years. She was last employed at Gator Cases, Inc. in Columbia City until her death. The surviving relatives include her twin sons Charles J. (Cortney) Simmons of Fort Wayne and Benjamin J. Simmons of Churubusco; her daughter Sherry Simmons, a freshman at Churubusco High School; two brothers Tom (Nancy) Hetrick of Fort Wayne and Dave (Lori) Hetrick of Fairfield, Calif; her sister Pat (Mick) Steury of Las Vegas, Nev; three nieces and three nephews. Her parents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 24, 2014, from 4 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service. *********************************************
