Kathlene M. Barnhart, 68, of Churubusco, passed away at 6:48 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at her home in Churubusco. Mrs. Barnhart was born on September 30, 1947 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Raymond and Vera (Stephenson) Alter. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne, and graduated from South Side High School in 1966. On December 3, 1994 she was married at Agape Church of the Brethren to William Barnhart. She was employed at Dana Corp, Churubusco, and retired in 1999 after 30 years. Mrs. Barnhart was a member of Agape Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed time with her family, but mostly time with her grandchildren. The surviving relatives include husband, William Barnhart of Churubusco; her daughter, Linda (Travis) Chiddister of Cromwell; her son, Mark (Mickey) Kienzler of Carson, VA; a brother, Ronald (Carol) Alter of Pleasant Lake; a brother-in-law, Roland Miller of Osseo, MI; her 11 grandchildren, Maryia, Mason, Hunter, Terron, Drebyn, Keilynn, Emily, Ally, Trasin, Eli, and Kyly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marlys Alter and Charlene Miller. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Todd Hammond, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County at a later date.
