Kenneth R Butler, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020, at his home. Born in West Palm Beach, FL, on August 29, 1944, to the late Donald and Lillian (Thompson) Butler. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, graduating from Northside High School in 1963. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Lincoln Nebraska, where he met Lorre. Kenneth was married to Lorretta "Lorre" Bruce in Nebraska, on April 16, 1965. The couple moved to this area in 1976. He worked as a conductor for CSX Railroad, retiring in 2004, after 38 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, coin collecting, cooking and chopping wood. He was very giving and his kids never left without a gift he made. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorre Butler; his four sons, Donald (Amy) Butler, Daniel Butler, Jesse Butler and Samuel Butler; his daughter, Barbie Ashley; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will take place at Eel River Cemetery on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Wounded Warrior Project.
