Kenneth W. Kurtz, 96, of rural Allen County, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on April 27, 2026. Born in Arcola, on September 13, 1929, to the late Wilbur and Mary (Felger) Kurtz.
He married Marlene Cox at St. John's Lutheran Church of Lake Township on September 19, 1954. He retired from the purchasing department of ITT Aerospace after 43 years of service. During retirement, he helped his sons on the family farm.
Ken was a lifelong and active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Arcola Lions Club since 1959.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran, he had been active in the Whitley County Korean War Veteran Honor Guard and was a current member of Chapter 133 of Korean War Veterans.
Ken is survived by his five children, Dr. Gregory (Dr. Robyn Webb), Jeffrey (JoNel LeCount), Jon (Tina Zern) Kurtz, Cynthia (Mike) Voorhies and Lisa (Carl) Van Allen; ten grandchildren, Major Robert (Artemia) Greener, Doug Greener, Dr. Reed (Maca) Kurtz, Anna (Luke) Schultheis, Dr. Madelyn Kurtz, Logan (Hana) Kurtz, Amelia Kurtz, Luke Van Allen, and Kevin Van Allen; two step-grandsons; Dr. Jason (Rachel) Voorhies and Justin Voorhies; 12 great-grandchildren, Josh, Mia, Dexter, Harrison, Valentina, Tomas, Teddy, Lucy, Sierra, Jackson, Katie and Kaylei; siblings, Lois Goudy, Robert (Darlene) Kurtz, Carol Selking and Karen Ayres; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a sister, Joyce Griner, and a granddaughter, Miranda Kurtz.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Lake Township, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the church on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Lions Club service at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Eel River Cemetery.
