Lalia I. Hand, 98, a resident of rural Huntertown, passed away on February 5, 2017 at Heritage in Huntington.
She was born in Noble County on November 19, 1918, a daughter of George and Effa (Owen) Kimmel.
On August 9, 1941 she was married to Kenneth Hand. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2003.
She retired from GTE in 1975 after 25 years, as a long distance telephone operator.
She was a life time member of Huntertown United Methodist Church.
Lalia is survived by a daughter, Linda (Bill) Eviston; a sister, Margaret Marshall; three grandchildren, Matt (Casey) Eviston, Seth Eviston and Sara (Ben) Brainard; four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Faye Lemish, Betty Mote, Maxine Collins, and Barbara Rider; two brothers, Edward and Bill Kimmel.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Services will be at the Huntertown United Methodist Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017, with calling one hour prior.
Burial will follow at Huntertown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Huntertown United Methodist Church.
