Larry A. Pressler, 65, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County, passed away at unexpectedly at 7:43 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at his home in Eel River Township from the results of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Pressler was born in Fort Wayne on August 11, 1950, a son of Gene and Ruth (Pippenger) Pressler. He spent the majority of his formative years in Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1967. On February 18, 1978 he was married in Fort Wayne to Patricia A. Jackson. The couple spent the early years of their marriage in Fort Wayne before moving to their present home south of Churubusco in 1991. Employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for ten years, he retired as a fork lift operator for United Technology in Grabill in 1996 after 13 years. He had also operated Churubusco Glass Tinting out of his home for several years. He was a member of the Ideal Fish & Game Club in Churubusco, and in his leisure time enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his cats. The surviving relatives include his wife Patricia; a son Allan (Ladonna Ebey) Pressler of Churubusco; his mother Ruth Pressler of Columbia City; three brothers Steve (Connie) Pressler of Columbia City, Tom (Charlene) Pressler of Spencerville, and Greg (Gidget) Pressler of Churubusco; and two grandchildren Kalah Pressler and Adam Pressler. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son John Pressler on April 2, 1994. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Sam Mills of Big Lake Church of God, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., or one hour prior to the funeral Friday morning. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
