Laura Mae Shank, 96, of Churubusco, passed away on April 4, 2022, at Ascension Sacred Heart Village, in Avilla.
She was born in Green Township, on October 28, 1925, to the late Lodie and Eva Ellen (Richards) Freeman.
Laura was married to Orthelle R. Shank on October 30, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1991.
Laura worked at General Electric for 13 years. She also worked for years in the cafeteria for Smith-Green Schools. Then she worked at Dana Corporation, in Churubusco, for 12 years.
She was a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was the United Methodist Women Rummage Sale Chairperson for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Julia (Paul) Bowser; two grandsons, James (Audrey) and Terry (Beth) Bowser; four great-grandchildren Dexter, Mason, Colton and Desmond; a brother, Wilbur (Kay) Freeman.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Myrtle Nine, Mary Gerber, Neva Writesel and Blanche Sible; a brother, Jim Freeman.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2022, at the funeral home, with calling one hour prior to the service.
Visitation will take place at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Eel River Cemetery.
