Lawrence Poinsett

Lawrence O. Poinsett, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on April 12, 1942, in Fort Wayne, to the late Myron J. and Mary (Maloney) Poinsett. He spent his formative years in Allen County, graduating from Arcola High School in 1960. Lawrence was married to Jane Ohlwine on July 20, 1963, in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association and Cushman Scooter Club. Lawrence was an avid race fan and enjoyed all types of racing, Midget car, Sprint car, NASCAR, IndyCar and tractor pulls. He loved them all. He was a mechanic and shop owner for many years. He was also a truck driver and car hauler. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane; two daughters, Christine (Jerry) Becraft and Lisa Poinsett; one brother, Patrick (Joy) Poinsett; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
