Leslie "Les" David Roberson, 76, of Churubusco, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024, at Bethlehem Woods, in Fort Wayne
He was born on October 23, 1947, in Wolf Lake, to the late Jesse Howard and Martha Ellen (Teague) Roberson. He spent his formative years in Allen County and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1966.
Les married Sharon Barron at Eel River Baptist Church on November 7, 2001. She preceded him in death on August 6, 2017. The couple enjoyed serving in the I.O.O.F
Les was a proud member of the Air National Guard, where he dutifully served until his retirement as a Master SGT in 2003. His dedication to his work was truly inspiring, and he carried this strong sense of duty and commitment into his personal life.
Les joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows on October 27, 1979. He became a Noble Grand of Harmony Lodge #19 in 1985, and also held the position of Lodge Secretary for over 20 years. Brother Les was a District President, District Deputy Grand Master, and served as the Grand Secretary of Indiana for 4 years. Les was also appointed to many committees in the Grand Lodge, notably the Arthritis Committee.
Les worked his way through the ranks of the other branches of the Odd Fellows as well, becoming the Grand Patriarch in 1994, the Grand Scribe in 1998, and was appointed to many different committees through the years for the Grand Encampment. He was the Grand Representative to the Sovereign Grand Lodge for a couple years. He also served as the Chairman of the Arthritis Committee at the Sovereign Grand Lodge for several years.
Brother Les was a Chevalier of the Patriarchs Militant, where he served as the President of the Department Council of Indiana, and Department Adjutant (Secretary).
Les was also a member of the Rebekahs, the Sister Lodge of the Odd Fellows, joining Concordia Lodge #41 in 1985.
Brother Les was very proud to be an Odd Fellow and would talk to people he met on the street, in hotel lobbies or wherever he happened to be, to spread the name and ideals of Odd Fellowship. His friendship and council will be deeply missed at our meetings.
Les is survived by his sons, Roy Roberson and Ben Roberson; four grandchildren, Brooke (Keegan) Godoy, Caleigh Roberson, Rozilynn Roberson, Austin (Maddie) Roberson, and Jesse Roberson; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Denver Lee.
A graveside memorial service at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday July 27, 2024, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in New Haven. In addition to military honors, he will have I.O.O.F honors.
