Linda K. Alberding, 69, of Fort Wayne, passed away on November 21, 2024, at her home, with her husband at her side.
She was born on June 11, 1955, in Decatur, to the late Hurbert and Helen (Huffman) Gase. She spent her formative years in Decatur and graduated from Belmont High School in 1973. She was married to James Alberding on September 8, 1973, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Decatur.
Linda was a dedicated employee of Allen County Public Library, where she worked in Tech Services. She retired in 2020, after more than 29 years of dedicated service. A devoted member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church for 18 years, Linda found solace and grace in her faith. She faithfully prayed the Rosary daily for her family and friends. She was known for her love of reading, her enjoyment of the outdoors, where she often walked and ran with her husband, and her delight in playing any type of board games. What mattered most to Linda was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Linda is survived by her husband, James Alberding; her sister, Nancy (Al) Kahlert; a sister-in-law, Barbra Gase; several nieces and nephews; and her steadfast friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Gase.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, with calling taking place from 9 to 9:45 at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel.
The family will also receive family and friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Linda will be laid to rest at Ege Catholic Cemetery, LaOtto.
