Lois Barrett

Lois Marie Barrett, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on September 10, 2023, at Park Place Senior Living. Lois was a beloved resident of Eel River Township for 94 years, where she devoted her life to her family and the land. A dedicated wife, she married the love of her life Dean Barrett, on March 10, in Greenfield. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2017, after 65 years of marriage. A lifelong member of the 4-H Dairy Club, she imparted her wisdom and love for farming to generations of young people. Above all, Lois will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her passion for farming. For 22 years, Lois and Dean owned and operated the Shiloh reception hall, where they served their community with warmth and grace. Lois is survived by two daughters Stephany (Daniel) Bourne and Sandy (Ron) Graves Shoultz; a son Rex (Lisa) Barrett; five grandchildren, Daniel (Heather) Bourne, Andrew Bourne, Kali (Kyle) Tom, Whitney (Roger) Stahlhut, and Cody Barrett; nine great-grandchildren, Bryce, Bailey, Kassidy, Owen, Everly, Linkin, Bailey, Barrett, and Adelynn. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her father, Vern Caley; her mother, Edith (Tucker)Caley; and a sister, Hilda Nofzinger. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing for Lois on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, located at 16830 Lima Road, Huntertown, Indiana, 46748. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lifehouse Church - Huntertown Campus, located at 16021 Lima Road, Huntertown, Indiana, 46748, with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County. Memorials may be directed to the Allen County 4-H Fairgrounds. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
