Lois Tester

Lois Elizabeth Tester, 95, a former resident of High Lake and widow of Francis E. Tester, passed away at 7:27 a. m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett. She had been a patient there since July. Mrs. Tester was born in Jefferson Township in Adams County on September 6, 1918, a daughter of Clinton and Zelda (Schnitz) Hart. She spent her formative years in rural Decatur, and graduated from Jefferson Township High School. On July 20, 1940 she was married in Adams County to Francis E. Tester. She lived in Fort Wayne for a period following her marriage, and had lived at High Lake in rural Albion for 20 years before moving to Churubusco three years ago. A homemaker all of her adult life, she was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting and embroidery work. She also enjoyed toll painting and gardening. Mr. Tester preceded her in death in 2006. The surviving relatives include her five children Larry (Janet) Tester of Huntertown, Leroy (Barbara) Tester of Bel Air, Md., Donna Iden of Churubusco, Lloyd (Carol) Tester of Plant City, Fla., and Terry (Pat) Tester of Albion. There are 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Gerald Hart and Myron Hart. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Corinne Boruff-Stucker, pastor of Churubusco United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p. m. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
