Louann Newport, affectionately known as "Glamma," 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, at her home. She was born on October 7, 1938, in Fort Wayne, to the late John and Ruth Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne and graduated from Central Catholic. Louann, a devoted member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, was known for her unwavering faith, and her involvement in the Daughter of the Nile. She was always full of life and laughter, she loved going to the casino, and her large circle of friends was a testament to her sociable nature. It was often said of Louann that she didn't know a stranger. Her most cherished role, however, was that of a grandmother, not just to her own grandchildren, but to everyone she met. Louann is survived by her daughter, Tisha (Billy) VanAuken; her grandchildren, Stephanie (David Rex) VanAuken, Tabitha (Cole) Stauffer, her great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Alexander Stauffer, her brother, Kenneth (Joann) Brown; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Newport; grandchildren Casey (Brian) Harper, and Cody (Laura) Newport; great-children, Everette and Jean Harper, Henry, Adaline, Theodor, and Rose Newport. In addition to her parents, John Brown. Ruth and Eugene Martin, Louann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Newport; her daughter, Theresa Mooney; son, Gregory Newport; her siblings, Maurice Brown, Lawrance Brown, and Kathleen Reed. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, with gathering beginning at 10:00 a.m. Louann will be laid to rest at the Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, following the Mass. Following the burial there will be a Celebration of life at the Eagles Lodge, 2730 Lofty Dr. Fort Wayne IN 46808, from 1-3 for the family and friends to Celebrate a life well lived. Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospital. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
