Lucile J. Page, 83, a resident of Avilla and formerly of Swan Township, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, November 24, 2013, at the Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She had been a patient there since June. Mrs. Page was born on March 17, 1930 in Churubusco, a daughter of Byard and Ruth (Gaff) Egolf. She spent her formative years near Columbia City, and lived in Long Beach, California for a period before returning to Churubusco. On September 3, 1948 she was married in Churubusco to Paul J. Page. A homemaker all of her adult life, she enjoyed traveling, reading, teaching Sunday School, and especially enjoyed cooking. The surviving relatives include her husband Paul, to whom she was married for over 65 years; her children Sherry (Glen) McCoy of Churubusco, Jim (Glenda) Page of Lake Kiowa, Texas, David (Nellie) Page of LaOtto, and Paula of Florida; two sisters-in-law Rosa Egolf of Columbia City and Sue Cashen of Arizona; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Clinton B. Page; two brothers Homer Egolf and Keith Egolf; and by a sister Helen Hanawalt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
