Lyle G. Wilson, 88, of Goshen, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.
He was born in Goshen on September 23, 1936, to the late Ora and Gola (Shrock) Wilson. He spent his formative years in Goshen and graduated from Jefferson Township School. Lyle met his future wife, Verba Mae Stutzman, in Goshen, and the couple married at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church on November 28, 1957. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2012, after 54 years of marriage.
Lyle was a devout Christian who quietly lived out his faith through his love for his family and others. Over the years, he "adopted" many family members, offering kindness and support to those around him.
Lyle loved farm life and enjoyed raising animals. He rarely missed his grandsons' sporting events and took great joy in supporting them. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Lyle was a dedicated and hardworking man, serving as a Warehouse Foreman at Michigan Wholesale Lumber until his retirement in 2006. Lyle was also a devoted member of the Central Church, Fort Wayne, where he found a deep sense of community and faith. He lived his entire adult life in Fort Wayne, returning to Goshen a few years after his wife's death.
He is survived by his daughter, Gina (Troy) Cole; two sons, Robin Wilson, and Scot (Sharon) Wilson; a sister, Veradine Berkey; five grandsons, Jonathon Wilson, Timothy Wilson, Trae (Emily) Cole, Joshua (Kayla) Wilson, and Kameron (Kylie) Cole.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Wilson.
