Madaline Fusselman

Madaline Hill Ternet Fusselman, 87, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 1:00 p. m.on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at her home at Hamilton House in Fort Wayne. She had resided there for the past two years. Madaline was born on May 17, 1926 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Cloid and Margaret (Ellingwood) Carpenter. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and spent most of her adult life there. A homemaker, she traveled extensively throughout the United States during her later life, returning to Fort Wayne in 2001. She was a member of Beacon Light Chapel, east of Churubusco; Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 Ladies Auxiliary in Churubusco; and the Churubusco Veterans of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846 Ladies Auxiliary. On July 22, 1950 she was married in Fort Wayne to George Hill; he died in 1984. She married Bernon Ternet in Churubusco on March 7, 1987; he died in 1990. Her final marriage was to George Fusselman in Fort Wayne on December 18, 1993; he died in 2001. Her immediate survivors include her brothers Rev. Harry (Patricia) Carpenter of Montgomery, Texas, Richard (Dorothy) Carpenter of Fort Wayne, and Larry (Sharon) Carpenter of Onalaska, Texas; and a sister Mary Sifuentes of Princeton, Texas. Also surviving are a number of step-children and foster children, all of whom she loved. There are also many beloved step and foster grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers Cloid Carpenter and William Carpenter; a sister Evelyn Bodle; and by a step-son. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Monday, November 4, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Larry Porter, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Monday morning. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
