Marjorie E. Bennett, 84, a former resident of Collins and more recently of rural Cromwell, passed away at 8:01 a. m. on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse.e She had been a patient there for the past three months. Mrs. Bennett was born in Eel River Township in Allen County on September 10, 1926, a daughter of Bert and Loudema (Shock) Ferguson.e She spent her early years in the Churubusco-area, ande graduated from Churubusco High School in 1944. On January 30, 1945 she was married in Whitley County to Garland E. Bennett, and lived most of her adult life in Collins.e Mr. Bennett preceded her in death on November 19, 2005, and following his death, she moved to rural Cromwell to live with her daughter. A homemaker, in her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, traveling, and also enjoyed blue grass and country music. Surviving is a daughter Grace (Phil) Sherman of Cromwell, with whom she made her home; three sons Max (Laura) Bennett of Big Lake, Michael (Melissa) Bennett of Wolf Lake, and Gary (Debbie) Bennett of Peru; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. George Cecil, pastor of Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 6 p. m. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
