Mardell Rhodes

Mardell Rhodes, 90, of Churubusco, entered into eternal rest on October 30, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville. Mardell was born in Smith Township on October 28, 1935, to the late Harry and Florence (Green) Blessing. She spent her younger years in Eel River Township and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1954. On April 30, 1955, she married the love of her life, Ronald Rhodes. The couple spent their married life on the same family farm in Churubusco, a testament to their enduring love and commitment to each other. Ronald preceded her in death on February 26, 2003. Mardell was a dedicated worker, helping on the family farm, working at the Magic Wand, eight years at Myers' Super Value in Churubusco, and at Dana Corp. Her industrious spirit was reflected in her membership in Union Local 2049 as well as her commitment to her faith as a member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church. Mardell is survived by her children, Doreen Rhodes, Doyle Rhodes, and Denise Geiger; her sisters, Delores Blessing and Ardean Ebert; her grandson, Zachary (Melanie Bolenbaugh) Geiger; and her great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Brower-Geiger, Keegan Geiger, and honorary great-grandchildren, Rylee Bolenbaugh, and Martin Smith. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends and family at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Following the service, Mardell will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Churubusco. Memorials may be directed to the Churubusco United Methodist Preschool. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
