Margaret Geiger

Margaret A. Geiger, 84, a resident of Churubusco and widow of M. Duane Geiger, passed away at 6:00 a. m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the residence of her daughter, where she had resided for the past five years. Mrs. Geiger was born in Churubusco on December 22, 1927, a daughter of Joseph W. and Gertrude (Campbell) Overly. As a girl growing up she lived south of Churubusco and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1946. On November 29, 1947 she was married in Albion to M. Duane Geiger. The couple spent much of their married lives on a farm in Green Township in Noble County, until moving into Churubusco in 1986 following Mr. Geiger's retirement. A homemaker, she had been a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 Ladies Auxiliary in Churubusco for the past 36 years. Mr. Geiger preceded her in death on October 16, 1992. The surviving relatives include her children Linda L. (Stephen) Epperson of Fort Wayne, and Gary (Pam) Geiger, Sharon (Dennis) Born, and Randy (Mui) Geiger, all of Churubusco; a sister Mary Edna Klausing of Yuma, Ariz; nine grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters Hettie Reed and Bertha May Guthrie; and by two brothers Joseph W. Overly, Jr. and Charles Overly. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Monday, August 20, 2012, at the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco, with Chaplain Karen Kosberg, officiating. Interment will follow. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.
