Marilyn Owen

Marilyn E. Owen, 90, a resident of Churubusco and formerly of Green Township, passed away at 11:15 a. m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City. She had been taken to the hospital from her home on Friday. Mrs. Owen was born in Churubusco on June 21, 1922, a daughter of Chester E. and Bertha (Richards) Tulley. She spent her formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School. On October 14, 1945 she was married in Churubusco to Francis Paul Owen. During World War II she had been employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne, and later worked for Precision Plastics in Columbia City for 20 years, retiring from their shipping department. She spent most of her adult life in Green Township before making her home with her daughter in Churubusco in 1993. Mr. Owen preceded her in death on February 28, 1960. The surviving relatives include her daughters Elaine K. (Larry) Cearbaugh of Churubusco, with whom she made her home, and Sharol Fowler of Albion; a brother Kemal (Diane) Tulley of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers Gloyd Tulley, Milo Tulley, and Carl E. Tulley; and by two sister Phyllis Renkenberger and Harriet Fisher. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
