Marsha K. Elward, 62, of Churubusco, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. Born on November 8, 1952 to Robert and Florence Wafer in Fort Wayne, Marsha graduated from South Side High School in 1971. She married her high school sweetheart Robert Elward on May 25, 1973, and they had three daughters. Marsha moved to Huntertown in 1984 and to Churubusco in 1999. Marsha was a loving, supportive and brave wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching I Love Lucy and soap operas, and playing with her grandchildren. She courageously battled three cancers and remained strong and loving throughout her illnesses. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Robert J. Elward; three daughters, Valerie (Cory) Friend of Columbia City, Kimberly (Ryan) Petty of Warsaw, and Shannon Elward of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren Logan, Ava, Mackenzie, and Kaiden. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. Wafer and Florence M. Metheny; and her siblings Janis E. Parker and Gary W. Wafer. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ege, with Father Danney Pinto, the celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, or at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ege Catholic Cemetery, Noble County.
