Mary M. Ledger, 101, of Churubusco, passed away on July 4, 2024, at Park Place Senior Living, Fort Wayne.
She was born in Decatur on December 13, 1922, to the Late Noah and Hazel (Harris) Henschen. She spent her formative years in Adams County and graduated from Salam High School, in Washington County.
Mary was married to Paul Ledger, just before Paul left for World War II. Following Paul's return, the couple settled in Fort Wayne to raise their family. Paul preceded Mary in death on August 4, 1998. Following Paul's death Mary moved to Churubusco. In addition to raising four children, she worked at General Telephone until her retirement in 1987.
Mary was a woman of strong faith and an active participant in the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, where she was a past choir director and Sunday school teacher. She found joy in crocheting and was an avid reader of her Bible. Mary was also well known for her wonderful culinary skills, especially her pumpkin pie and German potato salad.
Mary is survived by her sons, Adrian (Anne) Ledger and William (Ellen) Ledger; her daughter, Nancy (Rand) Gee; a son-in-law, George Richey; eight grandchildren, Scott Ledger, Brian Ledger, Thomas Ledger, R. Matthew Gee, Mary Ellen West, Sarah Ledger, W.M. David Ledger, and Benjamin Ledger; 12 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brett, Caleb, Joshua, Noah, Josiah, Joel, Elijah, Elliott, Cole, Rory, and Broc; and a great-great-granddaughter, Arley.
In addition to her parent and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Suzanne Richey; a grandson, Michael Richey.
A graveside service will be held in honor of Mary on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46804.
