Merle Stienbarger

Merle F. Stienbarger, 91, of Churubusco, passed away at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at home in Churubusco. Mr. Stienbarger was born on June 6, 1922 in Brimfield, a son of Walter Samuel and Geneva (Cler) Stienbarger. He spent his formative years in Allen County, and graduated from Huntertown High School. On January 15, 1941 he was married in Columbia City to Eunice Willene Jones, and moved to his present farm in Eel River Township in 1954. He was a life long Eel River Township Farmer, and was employed as an Independent Contractor and also worked McCoy Lumber. Mrs. Stienbarger preceded him in death on June 28, 2003. The surviving relatives include a son, Dewayne M. (Helen) Stienbarger of Churubusco; granddaughter, Lanette (Kregg) Jones of Churubusco; grandson, Bill (Christine) Stienbarger of Huntertown; Special Friend, Irene Trimble of Churubusco; brother, Clare (Alice) Stienbarger; two sisters, Marguerite (Bud) Means and Betty (Will) Huett; great-granddaughter, Danielle (Dave) Rex of Churubusco; two great-grandsons, Wade and Wyatt Stienbarger both of Huntertown; step-great grandchildren, Kirsten and Andrew Allman both of Huntertown; and his companion, Tom Cat He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Stienbarger; a sister Ann Baker; and a great-granddaughter Gabby Jones (Feb. 7, 2014) Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Timothy Grable, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County, with a White Dove release.
