Michael Mills

Michael Mills, 66, of Columbia City, passed away on January 26, 2025 at Parkview Whitley. He was born in Fort Wayne on August 3, 1958, to Walter and Betty (Truelove) Mills. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Elmhurst High School. Living in Columbia City, Michael was a dedicated Senior Technician at Quality Diesel Performance for 10 years. Prior to that he had worked for many years at Kelley Chevrolet. His hardworking spirit was only surpassed by his love for his family and his passion for his favorite hobbies, which included fishing, watching Nascar races, and attending truck pulls. Michael is survived by his his mother, Betty Mills; his wife, Candace Mills; his four daughters, Amanda (Rick) Laney, April (Matt) Mazelin, Michelle (Mitchell) Mullins, and Megan (Brian) Shew; his siblings, Elizabeth Jones, Frank (Melinda) Mills, Paul (Jennifer) Mills, and Patricia (Pete Vaughn) Kelley; and nine grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Walter Mills; his brother-in-law, Gary Jones. A public calling will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Ege Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. John Bosco Catholic Church for Masses.
