Michael Shively, 82, of Churubusco, passed away on December 11, 2025, at his home.
He was born on May 19, 1943, in Wolf Lake, to the late Charles Allen and Crystal (Deutsch) Shively. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School.
He married Arlene at the Churubusco United Methodist Church on April 29, 1967. After serving in the United States Army, Michael became a private drum instructor, a career he passionately pursued for over 55 years. His love for music was not only a profession but also a hobby, as he delighted in playing the drums in his free time. When not immersed in his music, Michael could often be found outdoors, walking, running, or biking. Michael was a man of community and faith, a member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church.
Michael is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene Shively; his two daughters, Susan (Jeff) Molargik and Erin (Rich) Dafforn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sally Waltenburg, Patricia Pressler, and Marsaleete Boggs.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Churubusco United Methodist Church, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Michael will be laid to rest at Eel River Cemetery following the services.
