Michael Strong

Michael Strong, 71, of Churubusco, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his home with his family. He was born in Fort Wayne on October 13, 1950, to Cecil and Lavon (Disler) Strong. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Michael was married in Churubusco on December 29, 1970, to Narda Welch. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2003. He worked at Strong's Tool Grinding as a tool grinder for more than 40 years, retiring in 2017. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and drawing. He had an eye for fine detail. Michael is survived by his son, Nick (Tara) Strong; his daughter, Kate (Derek) McDowell; his mother, Lavon Strong; his seven grandchildren, Auston Smith, Kameryn and Brayden Strong, Molly, Owen, Lucy, and Harlan McDowell; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Strong; his brother, James Strong. Service will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The burial will take place in the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
