Miriam Laisure

Miriam Pauline "Berger" Laisure, 96, of Churubusco, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Parkview Randallia. She was born in Miami County on July 1, 1926, to the late Simon and Mary (Musselman) Berger. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School. Berger married James Laisure on August 17, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1998. Berger had a love for motorcycles. She was a 74-year member of Motor Maids, Inc. She joined the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association in 1984 and remained active until 2018. For the last several years she belonged to the Red Hat Society. Berger is survived by her daughter, Sharon Smith; a son, David Laisure; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Laisure, Jr.; a brother, Robert Berger; a sister, Donna Howard; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Laisure. A sharing service will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., with calling beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow and take place at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
