Morris H. Bracht, 87, a resident of of Huntertown, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at his home. Mr. Bracht was born on August 7, 1927 in Perry Twp., a son of August and Margaret (Kugler) Bracht. He spent his formative years there and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1945, serving as the class president. On August 15, 1948 he was married in Huntertown to Leona M Hatch, and lived all of his adult life in rural Huntertown. He was engaged in farming in Perry Twp., drove school bus for 25 years for Northwest Allen County Schools, and also was a contractor for DarLeona Homes. Mr.Bracht was a member of Huntertown United Methodist Church and served in a variety of administrative and volunteer capacities, including singing it its choir for 69 years. He served on the Huntertown Cemetery board of directors, and was its sexton for 40 years. The surviving relatives include his wife of 66 years, Leona M. Bracht of Huntertown; two sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Bracht and John (Ruth) Bracht both of Huntertown; a daughter, Laura (Matt) Deckard of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mary Norford and Helen Gresham, both of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents August and Margaret (Kugler) Bracht; a daughter Elaine Kay Bracht; two sisters, Ruth Grogg and Bernice Bryie; a great grandson Hezekiah Sewell Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday at Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Lima Road, with Pastor Greg Hiatt and Gabrielle Ginder, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m. Friday, or one hour prior to the service Saturday morning. Interment will be in the Huntertown Cemetery. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements.
