Nancy Traxler

Nancy Sue Traxler, 78, a resident of Fort Wayne and formerly of LaOtto, passed away at 3:39 a. m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne with her family by her side. Nancy was born on November 13, 1936 in Swan Township in Noble County, a daughter of William D. and Leah (Moore) Worman. She spent her formative years near LaOtto and graduated from Avilla High School in 1954. Employed by the East Noble School Corporation, she had worked as the secretary at LaOtto Elementary School for 18 years, retiring from there in 2001. In her leisure time she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's athletic events, dining and vacationing with her family, and fishing trips to the family cottage at McGregor Bay, Ontario. Most importantly, she will long be remembered as a strong woman who was an inspiration to many for facing adversity with great faith and courage. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in LaOtto and the LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. The surviving relatives include her children Candi (Terry) Ross of Churubusco, Curt (Tina) Traxler of Albion, Craig (Sue) Traxler of Fort Wayne, and Carla (Steve) Plummer of Huntertown; a brother Richard (Pauline) Worman of Leo; a sister Beverly (John) Noffze of Marco Island, Florida; 16 grandchildren Kelli (Joshua) Kirchner, Eric (Angie) Traxler, Justin (Stacia) Traxler, Cory (Amanda) Traxler, Becky (Jacob) Porter, Eric (Cassie) Call, Heather Herron, Kyle (Toni) Herron, Dave Traxler, Matt Traxler, Danielle (Shane) Thomas, Evan (Alice Yamada) Traxler, Jason Traxler, Kyle Plummer, Tara Plummer, and Leah Plummer; and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Adam Paul Ross on December 2, 2014; and by her special friend Dave McGraw. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. David Stephey, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m., or one hour prior to the service Thursday morning. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
