Norman Harter

Norman L. Harter, 78, of Auburn, formerly of Avilla, passed away at 6:54 a.m. on July 11, 2017 at Auburn Village Nursing Home. He was born to James and Ethel (Kelly) Harter on July 22, 1938 in Noble County. He spent his formative years in La Otto. Norman was married to Joanne Whittaker and the couple lived in La Otto until moving to Avilla in 1986. He retired from Allen County Power Plant Norman is survived by a son, James Harter of Auburn; three great nieces, Kristy (John) Butcher of Auburn, Kassy Rollins of Garrett, and Kory (Michael) Sherrill of Manchester, TN; 13 great great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded by a son Norman Wayne Harter; two daughters Kathy Jo and Norma Jo Harter; a brother Donald E. Harter; a nephew, Thomas E. Harter. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on July 17, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Services will begin at 10:00 AM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on July 17, 2017. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Garrett. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family C/O Sheets & Childs Funeral Home.
