Norman Schaefer

Norman C Schaefer, 95, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at his farm in Allen County. Born in Fort Wayne, on April 17, 1924, to the late Henry and Clara (Hitzeman) Schaefer. He spent his formative years in Allen County, graduating from Arcola High School in 1942. Norman was married to Charlotte Blessing at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake TWP, on February 15, 1947. The couple has spent their entire marriage in Allen County. He farmed his family's land for 75 years. He was also an owner/operator truck driver for 20 years and drove for a total of 50 years. Norman was a big supporter of 4-H. He was active in the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served on the school board. He enjoyed westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza. He cherished his family, especially his grandkids. Norman is survived by three daughters, Suzanne (Dennis) Sutton, Connie Pearce and Jolene (Hal) Rogers; a son, Scott (Stephinie) Schaefer; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Charlotte Schaefer on February 12, 2019; a son-in-law, Dan Hochstetler. Services will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial taking place at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
