Norman L. Sherman, 85, of Churubusco, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at his home.
He was born in Arcola, on May 12, 1937, to the late Virgil and Edna (Butler) Sherman. He spent his formative years in Arcola and Wolf Lake, and graduated from Wolf Lake.
Norm retired from Navistar after 30 years, where he worked as an assembler.
Norm enjoyed his morning breakfast with friends, mushroom hunting, fly fishing, and ice fishing. He liked to watch IU Basketball. He also enjoyed wood working and sitting on his deck feeding and watching the birds. Norm was a big time bowler for many years.
Norm is survived by his children, Sherry (Dan) Feasel, Andrew (Angie) Sherman, and Susie (Anita) Sherman; his siblings, Barbara Campbell, Willard "Willie" Sherman, Rick (Alica) Sherman, Kathy (Jason) Hostetler, and Jennifer Patterson; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Ricky, Seth, Austin, Jacob, Sam, and Jordan; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Janice Mann and Nancy Anne Sherman; and by six brothers, Michael, Clyde "Red", Lester "Les", Paul, Phil, and Kerry Sherman.
A funeral service will be held at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
Memorials may be directed to disabled veterans through the Churubusco American Legion Post #157.
