Maxine Feagles, 81, a resident of rural Churubusco in Noble County and widow of Howard E. Feagles, diedThursday afternoon, November 29, 2007, at her home in Green Township. Although she had been in declining health for some time, her death was unexpected. Mrs. Feagles was born on November 30, 1925 in Hersey, Michigan, a daughter of Delos M. and Inez (Nash) Pion. She spent her formative years in Reed City, Michigan, and graduated from high school there. As a young woman she moved to Fort Wayne, and was married in St. Louis, Missouri on September 22, 1947 to Howard E. Feagles. The couple spent most of their married lives in Fort Wayne, and later returned to Reed City, where they lived for ten years. They returned to this area in 1986. She had been employed as a drug store cashier in Fort Wayne, and had also worked several summers for R. L. Polk City Directories. Mr. Feagles preceded her in death on August 25, 1989. The surviving relatives include her two children Jerry L. (Marlene) Feagles of Churubusco, and Ann (James) Stoll of Merriam; two sisters Ruth (Jim) Spence of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Shirley (Ed) Harris of White Cloud, Mich; two brothers Ed (Eva) Pion of Reed City, Mich., and Charles (Wanda) Pion of Paris, Mich; and two granddaughters Sara (Nick) Holmes and Tiffany Feagles. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Robert Pion and Maynard Pion; and by a sister Margaret Palmer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday, December 2, 2007, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Terry L. Zolman, pastor of the Merriam Christian Chapel, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Saturday from 2 to 7 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Sunday. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
