Olene Stureman

Olene Ann Stureman, 78, of Kimmell, passed away on October 20, 2025, at her home. She was born on June 4, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Glenn and Neva (Sherer) Shaffer. She spent her formative years in Spencerville, Ohio, and graduated from Spencerville High School. She later earned an associate's degree from Huntington University. On August 12, 1978, she married her beloved husband, Philip, and together, they built a life filled with joy and companionship. Before her marriage to Philip, Olene worked as a Legal Secretary in Van Wert, Ohio. Olene served in many areas, including local Post Offices, where she always greeted her customers with a warm smile and a friendly word. Her love for her community was further shown in her role as Treasurer for the Wolf Lake Cemetery Board. Olene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She spent countless hours mowing the yard and tending to her beautiful flowers. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Philip Stureman; a sister, Kay Nelson; two stepchildren, Dawn Bandy and Tony (Pam) Stureman; and six grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gregory Shaffer. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling hours beginning at 11:00 a.m. The burial will take place at Wolf Lake Cemetery.
