Patricia Hess

Patricia Hess, 90, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with Jesus on October 31, 2025, at Byron Wellness Center, Fort Wayne. Pat was born in Garrett on August 26, 1935, to the late Max and Gladys (Steffen) Diederich. She spent her formative years in Garrett and graduated from Garrett High School in 1953. In November 1953, she married Howard "Snuffy" Hess. Howard preceded her in death on March 31, 2003. Pat was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She loved crafting and attending craft sales, particularly enjoying candlewicking embroidery and baking. She worked in the cafeteria for the Northwest Allen County Schools for 42 years, retiring in 2011. Pat is survived by her children, Anita (Tom) Hoot, Phillip (Diane) Hess, and Kathy Hess; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Diederich; and sister-in-law, Doris Hess. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Hoot. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 11228 Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46845, with calling hours two hours prior to the service. Following the service, Pat will be laid to rest at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Garrett. Memorials may be directed to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
