Paul A. Buchanan Sr., 77, of Churubusco, passed away at 2:18 p.m. on April 28, 2017 at his Blue Lake home. Born on September 13, 1939 in Indianapolis, he was a son of Herschel "Red" and Bernice (Troyer) Buchanan. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco in 1959. Paul served in the United States Army. He was married to Fern Martin in Fort Wayne, she preceded him in death on February 2, 1985. After high school and the military, he chose the meat cutting profession, he worked at the Super Value in Churubusco and Kroger's retiring after 26 years in 2013. He then worked part time at Egolf's IGA as a meat cutter. He was married on December 14, 1985 to Nicolette Spiliotis. He loved watching Nascar and going to Tractor Pulls with Ed Stahl. He enjoyed grilling and watching IU Basketball. He most of all loved spending time with his family. Paul is survived by wife of 31 years, Nicolette Buchanan of Churubusco; his son, Paul (Lisa M.) Buchanan Jr. of Churubusco; his daughter, Heather (Luster) Roush of Columbia City; three step children; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife and parents he is preceded in death by his three brothers, Terry Buchanan, Sam Buchanan, Michael Buchanan. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on May 2, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. calling also one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will begin at 11:00 AM, at First Assembly of God, 1400 West Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825 on May 3, 2017, Pastor Ron Hawkins. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation in Paul's name.
