Paul E. Keister, 93, of Albion, passed away at 8:45 p.m., on Friday May 26, 2017 at Miller's at Oak Point, Columbia City.
Born on July 17, 1923 in Noble County, he was the son of Tonda and Millie (Winebrenner) Keister. He spent his formative years in Noble County graduating from Wolf Lake High School.
After high school, he served in The United States Navy during World War II.
Paul was married to Barbara Brackney on February 14, 1948. The couple moved to Jefferson TWP before moving to their present home in Green TWP. She preceded him on June 18, 2000.
He was a hard-working farmer and worked for Liquid Carbonic in Fort Wayne, after retirement he worked part-time for Hudson Trucking, Kendallville.
HE was a member of the 1942 Wolf Lake Wolves semi-state basketball team and in 1969 became a member of the Silver Anniversary Hall of Fame Team in Indiana.
Paul is survived by a daughter Betty (William) Pappe of Albion; a son Matt (Laurie) Keister of Avilla; six grandchildren, Cliff (Kristina) Pappe, Teresa (Trince) Hursey, Abbey (Joel) Edinger, Logan (Hannah) Keister, Claire (Michael) Porter, and Gabe Keister; seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife; also by three sisters, Pauline Bair, Eileen Zumbrun, and Virginia Parker.
Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Tuesday May 30, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., calling also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., at Merriam Christian Chapel Church on Wednesday May 31, 2017, Pastor Steve Pulley, Officiate.
Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
