Paul Schaefer

Paul W. Schaefer, 86, of Arcola, passed away on December 26, 2018, at Orchard Pointe in Kendallville. Born in Fort Wayne, on December 12, 1932, to the late, Carl and Bertha (Linnemeier) Schaefer. He spent his formative years in Arcola, graduating from Arcola High School in 1951. After high School he served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Paul was married to Norma Thiele at St. Marks Lutheran Church, on November 12, 1955. He worked at Arrow Motor Trucking for 17 years. He then retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 23 years of service. He was a longtime fixture of the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving in many areas of ministry. Paul is survived by his son, Michael (Jeanne) Schaefer; his daughter, Michelle (Ronald) Abbott of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Samantha Abbott of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Elmer Schaefer and Edgar (Edna) Schaefer. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 51 years, Norma Schaefer. Funeral Services will take place at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 2:00 PM., Pastor Bill Mueller and Pastor Alex Duff, officiating. Calling one hour prior to the service. Calling will also be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, at the church from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
