Phillip E. Mattingly,e Sr., a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:20 p .m. on July 5, 2011, at his residence, after a brief illness. He was born to James and Eunice Mattingly on January 7, 1934 in Lexington, Kentucky, and spent his formative years in Lexington. He served his country during the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Navy. He married Alma Jo Clark on November 28, 1957 in Campton, Kentucky, and the couple moved to this area in early 1958.e He worked for the Allen County Building Department as an electrical inspector. Surviving relatives include his daughters Linda (Jerry) Wallace, Brenda Kay (Max) Berkes, Eunice (Gary) Lyons, and Sarah (Jim) Berkley; sisters Mary (Paul) Brooks and Ollie (Johnny) Alford; 17 grandchildren and 37 great ea" grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife Alma Jo Mattingly; his parents, a son; and a brother James Mattingly. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a. m. on Saturday, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Timothy Grable, pastor of Sugar Grove Church of God, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 4 to 8 p. m. on Friday. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
