Phillip Lee Snider, passed away at his home on October 22, 2023, at the age of 74. He was born on June 12, 1949, in Noble County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Thomas and Thelma Snider. He was one of 21 children.
Phillip was a dedicated and talented man who turned every challenge into an opportunity. Albert Einstein once said, "Creativity is intelligence having fun," and Phillip L.'s life was a testament to this. He lived his life with the spirit of an adventurer, always ready to embark on a new journey or project.
After graduating from Northside High School in Fort Wayne, Phillip joined the United States Army and served his country courageously in the Vietnam War. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department. Phillip also worked as a machine operator at Foamex, now known as FXI, from which he would eventually retire. He enjoyed staying busy at all times and often said to people, "Don't you get comfortable in the easy chair."
Phillip's adventurous nature was most evident through his hobbies. He had a creative knack for construction and building, often getting lost in the process of creating something new and unique. His love for gardening was expressed through the beautiful peonies and robust vegetable garden that he nurtured, and his love for baking was cherished by those fortunate enough to enjoy a loaf of his banana bread. He was a dedicated member of the Auburn American Legion Post #0097 and DAV, Baron Dekalb Chapter, serving his community and fellow veterans with the same passion and vigor as he did his hobbies.
Phillip's love for his family was profound and unwavering. He lived his life creating a legacy of love and dedication that will continue to live on in his family for generations to come. Phillip is survived by his three daughters, Angela Snider, Tina (Todd) Kuehnert, and Renee (Craig) Beck; two brothers, Thomas (Julie) Snider, and Charles (Selena) Snider; a sister, Barbara (Herb) Anderson; and seven grandchildren, Kaden, Derrick, Taylor, Kaleb, Marissa, Mackenzie, and Madison.
In addition to both his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Snider; and a grandson, Austin.
Public visitation for Phillip will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, 206 North Main Street Churubusco, Indiana 46723, with Celebration of Life services starting at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will be held at Eel River Cemetery, immediately following the services.
