Phyllis Johnston

Phyllis A. Johnston, age 73, a former resident of Churubusco, In. died Wednesday October 1, 2008 at her residence in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. She had been ill for sometime and was under Hospice care. She was born March 13, 1935 in Anderson, In. a daughter of the late Samuel R. and Hazel F. (Carpenter) Peckinpaugh. She served as a nurse aid in Muncie, In. from 1958 to 1976, then she drove semi truck from 1976 to 1989. She was united in marriage on July 25, 1952 to James Johnston who died July 3, 1997. She was then united in marriage on October 25, 2003 to Jon D. Howland who survives. Also surviving are her children: James E. Johnston of Moonville, In., Melinda K. Johnston of Warsaw, In., Ronald A. Johnston and Kimberly A. King both of Huntsville, Alabama. Her brother Michael A. (Carol) Peckinpaugh of Middletown, In. and her sister Kay F. (Morris) Moore of Fort Wayne, In. and several grandchildren. Graveside services were held Thursday October 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Christian Chapel Cemetery Merriam, In. with Pastor George Cecil officiating. Sheets and Childs Funeral Home of Churubusco, In. has been entrusted with services. There were no calling hours in the funeral home.
