Phyllis Lou Riecke, 91, of Churubusco, passed away on June 17, 2017 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.
Born on September 22, 1925 in Ege, to Joseph H. and Mary (Maloney) Riecke. She graduated from Huntertown High School in 1943.
She worked for 50 plus years at the Dime Store in Churubusco.
She was a life time member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church and was active in the Lady's Rosary Society. She sang in countless weddingand funerals during her time and was a lifetime choir member. She was a loyal member of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.
While Miss Riecke never married, she was devoted to her Godchildren, nieces , nephews, numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is survived by her brother, Philip (Catherine) Riecke of Avilla; five nieces, Chris (Larry) Ott, Geralyn (Phil) Ross, Mary Jo (Tim) Dice, Kathy (Jed) Fought and Jackie Bell; five nephews, Dan (Sally) Riecke, Dave (Jenny) Riecke, Jim Riecke, Dean (Jody) Riecke, Jeff (Lori) Riecke; many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Kathleen Riecke and an infant brother Richard Riecke; and her life companion Ralph Rhodus.
Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., or one hour prior to the service. A Rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Bosco Catholic Church on Thursday, June 22, 2017, with Father Francis Chukwuma, officiating.
Burial will follow at Ege Catholic Cemetery.
